Muslim Enlightenment Through Education and Sustainable Development
BISMILLAH AR-RAHMAN AR-RAHEEM, As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum wa-Rahmatullah wa-Barakaatu,
You may wonder why Al Noor Charitable Agency for the Needy has launched a Radio station when there is so much work to be done in areas of basic necessities such as our ongoing programs on Waterwells, Orphans, Masjids, Qur’an schools, Education, etc. At Al Noor we think it is critical to pass on knowledge and build a community spirit based on principles of Islam.
Radio plays a big part in achieving these goals. Information and communication are the very core of poverty alleviation processes, from community participation and empowerment to raising a broad awareness of health & education issues and providing knowledge about Islam.
The main aim of Radio Al Noor is to build love and unity among Muslims and to avoid controversies which have divided Muslims for a long time and concentrate on issues which will bring enhanced spiritual and material value to our lives and future generations. We see building the ethos and cultural confidence of being a Muslim as an important badge of honor. Radio Al Noor is open to all Muslims who abide by its stated ethics of conduct and demonstrate a manner that is both reasonable and objective, especially in presenting live Friday KHUTBAS.
The radio station is powerful enough to broadcast and cover the whole of Zanzibar Islands, coastal parts of Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanga, and there is a plan to hopefully reach the whole coast of Tanzania. The Guiding Principles of Al Noor’s Islamic Radio Station is to promote the love of Allah and the appreciation of the beauty of his creation through the guidance of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and reaping the fruits of following him. With positive public opinion behind it ALHAMDULILLAH Radio Al Noor is succeeding.
Programs that reflect a high moral ground are aired, such as the importance of being kind to your parents; good neighbour etiquette; the rights of orphans; the rights and responsibilities in marriage; and wrong beliefs such as witchcraft which leads many Muslims away from the path of Allah.
JAZAKUM ALLAH KHAIRAN to our unwavering supporters who stood by us when we suffered an unfortunate fire incident at our studios in 2014. ALHAMDULILLAH, with your backing, Radio Al Noor managed to get back on air in a short period working out of temporary premises. We are now delighted to inform you that, as of Jan-1016, we have moved back to our original main studios at the Al Noor head offices, in the Sahaba Islamic Center.
Running an Islamic Radio station and producing excellent programs is an expensive task. There is a lot of brilliant work from some of the greatest Muslim minds and from Islamic history & civilization which could be produced into excellent radio programs. Radio Al Noor is in need of donors to fund the translations of these literature’s into Swahili and produce Islamic educational radio programs.
We welcome everyone on this rewarding journey and with your support INSHA’ALLAH we will continue building bridges which bring added spiritual and material value to the lives and to the future generations of the people of Zanzibar Islands.
Nadir M. Mahfoudh,
Director General.
