Al Noor Hajj Program

Sponsoring deserving Muslims for the most important journey of their lives

Hajj is an annual pilgrimage to the House of Allah in Mecca (Makkah). The journey is one that every able-bodied Muslim is obliged to carry out at least once in their lifetime if they can afford it. Unfortunately, many of the people living in Zanzibar Islands are unable to pay for this incredibly important, life-changing journey.

That’s why Al Noor started our Hajj Program in 2007. Since then, we have sponsored people for Hajj every year. Those selected to make the Hajj journey include the very poor who sincerely serve Al Noor and whose honesty and dedication toward serving Islam has been tested and proven.

Remember, this isn’t just some ordinary trip. It’s a defining, life-changing, and mandatory pilgrimage all able-bodied Muslims must take at least once in their lifetime if they have the means to do so. We believe the annual Hajj program brings back the spirit of social coexistence and understanding to further enrich the peaceful essence of the social fabric of Zanzibari society. It helps promote peace and harmony amongst the Muslim community and between Muslims and non-Muslims in the Zanzibar Islands.
