Al Noor Ramadhan Program
A time of giving and caring for the poor across Zanzibar Islands.
During the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Muslims around the world partake in fasting rituals to mark the holy month of Ramadhan. Throughout the entire month, the Muslim people refrain from all food and drink from true dawn until sunset. The mission is self-improvement and increased devotion to our teachings. Most notably, Ramadhan is a time for us to step up and go above and beyond to truly care and provide for the poor.
Each year, Al Noor receives dates (TAMAR), food items, new and used clothes, and Al Zakat and Sadaqat money that are to be distributed to the poor. It’s our mission to do our part to eliminate poverty and help the needy get back on their feet and on the path to better lives.
Who We Serve
We take the responsibility to distribute these gifts to those who need it most very seriously. Priority is always given to the orphans who are in our care, followed by the Madrasa teachers and Imams who are also very poor people and whose dedication to serving others has been proven time and time again. We also distribute food, clothes, money, and other resources to the poor elderly men and women of Zanzibar.
But we can’t do any of this without your help. With your support, we can help source, pack, and distribute Ramadhan gifts to the poor community. Rest assured that every donation you give will go directly to those who truly need it most. In fact, we make full audits available on the handling of donated items so you can see exactly how your contributions are being used to make a difference.
